Spring Forward

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
1 Corinthians 15:21-23

Easter is one of my favorite times of the year. A new season tap dances in with sweet melodies of birdsong, and fresh fragrances permeate the air from blossoming trees and budding flowers. This season brings in a posture of renewal, redemption and resurrection. As I reflect on this season and the true meaning of Easter, I realize that what struck me the most was everything Jesus endured to give us eternal life. Typically, I am focused on the Resurrection and the glory of God loving us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us.

But this year, God has given me a different perspective. You see, it’s been a difficult season lately, and I’m wondering if God can see me. I know He does, and this is why: He has drawn my attention to everything Jesus endured to get to the cross.

God reminded me that just as a butterfly must struggle out of its cocoon to develop strong wings, so too must we endure hardships to grow. After a long, cold winter, spring arrives, and everything blooms once again. From the Old Testament to the present day, every creation of His has endured some form of struggle before a breakthrough.

Easter reminds us that Jesus knew the challenges He would face, yet He endured them with faith and grace. His crucifixion was necessary, and through His suffering, we witness the power of God’s love and redemption. Jesus suffered so we could experience the depth of God’s grace and the magnitude of His love for us.

This truth reassures me in times of trial that “this too shall pass.” As we continue into the post-Easter season, my prayer is that we remain satiated on the spiritual feast that Easter brought us. Being surrounded by God’s love, a love so deep that He sent His only Son to endure much pain and ridicule so that we may have eternal life. Let us embrace the remembrance of what Jesus endured for every life that followed Him to be redeemed and have eternal life.

Next Steps

Reflect on a difficult season you have had and how God showed up for you.

Pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Easter—a reminder of Your boundless love and the sacrifice of Jesus for our redemption. Help us to embrace the struggles we face, knowing that through them, You strengthen and refine us. May we always remember the depth of Jesus’ suffering and the power of His resurrection. Let our hearts remain steadfast in Your grace, and may we walk in faith, carrying the hope and renewal of Easter with us each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
