Elder Selection Update: Candidate Confirmation & 2022 Nominations
Willow Creek | February 2, 2021
Nominations for Elder candidates are open through February 8, and some have asked: What does it actually mean to be an Elder? What do they do? What qualifications do they need? Is training provided? Our Senior Pastor Dave Dummitt sits down with two Elders—Silvia Escobar and Michael Roth—as they share about their experience serving.
We would also like to share three updates with you from our Elder Board:
First, Silvia Escobar, who has served on our Elder Board since 2019, is the Chief Governance Officer for 2021. We are so thankful for her leadership and heart for Christ and His church!
Second, we are pleased to affirm Dr. Gregory Carlson as our newest Elder. Greg is currently the Associate Dean for Leadership Studies and Professor of Leadership at Trinity International University. He and his wife, Donna, have attended the South Barrington campus for many years and have served in various roles in their section and as small group leaders. You can read more about Greg here. Welcome, Greg!
Lastly, you can still nominate a candidate to serve on the 2022 Elder Board. Our Elders humbly serve by setting goals and establishing values around which we orient our ministries. We are seeking candidates who are engaged in the life of the church and model spiritual maturity and Christlikeness in all areas of their lives. If you know someone who would make a great Elder, please nominate that person using this form by February 8, 2021.
