Global Teams

Our teams participate in projects alongside our partners, including painting a children’s center, construction of eco-stoves or latrines, digging for fencing, building a playground, moving construction materials, vacation bible school, chicken coop construction. All serving team projects are chosen by our global partners and are part of their long term strategy to holistically meet the needs of their community. 

Participants must interview with the team leader, must be 11 years or older, complete Willow’s Protection process, attend four pre-trip meetings, and pay and/or fundraise for entire trip cost. 

1. Pray and discern if a trip is right for you. 
2. Apply for a global serving trip.  
3. Interview with a team leader.  
4. If accepted to the team, choose to join the team and agree to the trip expectations and guidelines.  
5. Register for the trip and pay a $250 deposit. 
6. Submit a copy of your passport and complete protection application and mandated reporter training. 
7. Fundraise for the trip & invite others to pray for you and join you in your experience and learning.
8. Attend four pre-trip meetings to prepare spiritually, mentality, emotionally and culturally for the trip.
9. Serve with our global partners!
10. Return and apply what you have learned to a regular and on-going serving opportunity here locally. 
11. Meet with the Compassion & Justice pastor at your campus to share about your trip and get plugged in. 

The trip cost includes all airfare, lodging, food in-country, transportation in-country, emergency international medical insurance, team leader subsidy, and any other incidentals purchased by the ministry partner for the team (i.e., water, bug spray, etc.). The trip cost does not include any required or recommended immunizations or medications for travel, passport application/renewal fees, souvenirs, food in the airport, or transportation to the departure airport.

The deadline for spring teams is December 1, summer teams is March 1, and fall teams is June 1.

There will be four mandatory pre-trip meetings. The pre-trip meetings will be led by the team leader and will cover a variety of topics; pre-trip logistics, global partner preparation, cultural intelligence, and Helping Without Hurting training.

After you complete an application to the trip that you are most interested in, the team leader will contact you to schedule an interview. This is a great time to get to know one another and ask any questions you have!

Yes, you can apply for a serving team if you do not attend Willow. However, the team leader will prioritize the spots for people who attend Willow.

Upon acceptance to a team, all team members are required to pay a $250 deposit. Team members may fundraise for the remaining portion of the trip cost after (1) they have paid the $250 deposit, (2) they have received the fundraising guidelines at the first pre-trip team meeting, (3) their support letter has been reviewed and approved by the team leader.
